How far are we willing to travel?

Typically, our day to day operations run us through Eastern & Central Pennsylvania and all of New Jersey.

We charge $1.50 per mile from our shop located in Phoenixville, PA, and back. This mileage is based on the route our trucks are legally allowed to take, not just the shortest, fastest route that google maps “says” we can go.

In a few odd cases, we have gone as far north as New Hampshire, and as far south as North Carolina.

Most of our work is performed remotely - bringing out workshops on wheels to you.

In more rare instance, we can facilitate having your equipment brought to our shop. This can be advantageous for a few reasons:

  • You will not get charged mileage costs or travel going back and forth between our shop and you each day.

  • For more complex or intricate jobs, this allows us more time to work through bugs, prototyping issues and uncooperative weather conditions.

Why do we charge for travel?

Every mobile service company charges for travel based on location. This covers the cost of operating the vehicle across varying distances. In a shop or garage, the building does not move, so operating costs are for the most part, fixed. Expenses like electric, water, sewer, and climate control are all factored into the hourly rate of the business. You as the customer incur the cost for transporting your own equipment.

In the case of any mobile service company, the distance we travel to reach you ensures a fair cost whether you are located 5 minutes away, or 2 hours as the crow flies. Some examples include:

  • Diesel fuel is on average $4.00 per gallon.

  • Our service trucks weigh around 23,000lbs and average 9-10mpg.

  • It costs thousands of dollars per year to maintain US & State regulatory compliance just to operate a commercial vehicle legally on the road.

  • Tolls are substantially more expensive for commercial vehicles vs a passenger car or pickup truck, especially bridges and tunnels.
